A Gymnastics Coach or Instructor plays a role in training people or a group of people in the techniques and skills, and physical training needed in gymnastics. They train students of all ages and levels of abilities, including those who are only starting to master the elementary movements and those who are professional athletes about to compete. They are mainly aimed at gaining strength, flexibility, coordination and confidence with a safe and conducive training environment. The role will entail organising systematic training, instruction of techniques, and routine exposure of the students or equipment like beams, bars, vaults and floor mats. Coaches determine the progress of every athlete, performance expectations and modify training programs based on skills and physical capabilities.
One of the core responsibilities is safety. Gymnastics Coaches are known to teach the correct warm-ups, spotting methods and injury prevention measures such that the athletes know how to use the right method and control in performing the skills. They have a track of equipment and keep a strict yet positive atmosphere to facilitate positive learning.
Other tasks might be taking athletes to competitions, choreography, planning of training, and updating parents or guardians about it. There must be effective communication, patience and motivation. However, a Gymnastics Coach or Instructor assists the person to develop physical strength, discipline and confidence and to develop both physically and personally through a well-structured, safe and enjoyable training.
